Shelby Electric Cooperative launched PWR-net in 2008 with the goal of bringing a fast, reliable and affordable Internet solution out to its membership and to areas underserved by a reliable Internet product.  PWR-net is a line-of-sight, wireless broadband solution that allows subscribers the convenience of an always-on Internet product with speeds comparable to DSL.

Having reached our original goal of creating an Internet cloud that covers the entire Shelby Electric service area, the cooperative will also be using PWR-net to facilitate laptops in the linemen’s vehicles to help create efficiencies in their work orders and other tasks while working in the field.

If there is a strong interest for PWR-net Wireless Internet product outside of our service area, we will look at expanding into those areas as well.

PWR-net is proud of its build-out as no federal dollars or stimulus money was used.
